Bots, Androids and Academia, a tail of fraud detection.

My goal was to summarize my experience working on a research grant that required bot detection for an NIH survey. I cover the stages we went through, the fixes we implemented, and our decision-making process. I also discuss, more generally, how tech companies or tech-savvy individuals can help the social sciences protect themselves from deceptive actors and raise awareness among academics about potential pitfalls.
